Have finally got ATI Firepro v5800 working in Snow Leopard 10.6.8
All resolutions available , ( connected via dvi ) , system profiler showing both display ports also , full acceleration QE/CI enabled , front row working.
Fan running normal and quiet.
My system includes Gigabyte Ga Z68x ud3p Mobo and i5 2500k .
Clean install using iboot legacy and retail snow leopard 10.6.3
Then copy 10.6.8 combo update,f4 dsdt ,multibeast, updatehelper ,textwrangler to desktop.
Run updatehelper and reboot
Open multibeast , install 10.6.8 combo and minimise after install.
Run multibeast .... user dsdt,system utilities,audio> alc8xx..., apple hda...,disk>ioachi...,network>realtek...,bootloader>chimera,bootoptions> 64bit graphics enabler=no,system definitions>mac3.1
reboot
Open system profiler and check graphics device id ( firepro v5800 = 0x68a9 )
' note the lowercase a '
Add this device id 0x68a91002 to both ati5000controller.kext and ati3000x.kext
( I edited in place with textwrangler )
re run Multibeast ,system utilities
reboot
Now you should have all resolutions available and full acceleration.
Hope this is of help to someone!
