Hi,
I am also using a Dell D820 with the Nvidia NVS 120M and have experienced the same issues.
I have tried a variety of video drivers from LaptopVideo2Go with modified .inf files, with mixed results. Some throw me back into the issue of Metro icons not appearing, and others have locked up my computer in screen saver mode.
Now, I am using the latest driver available from LaptopVideo2Go which is intended for the 120M, using device ID 'DEV_01D8&SUBSYS_01CC1028' from the old Dell driver installer files. These drivers are intended for Vista, though they seem to be holding steady under Windows 8.

On another note (and at the possibility of losing all credibility), I recently experienced an issue with the D820 where my laptop booted but the graphics would not enable under any circumstances, including BIOS post. If this occurs to you, it may be because the solder connecting the GPU has finally deteriorated past the point of conductivity. I can attest that re-flowing the motherboard of a D820 in a household oven may fix this problem. If this applies to you, please see: http://www.computerrepairtips.net/how-to-reflow-a-laptop-motherboard/ This solution is not for the faint of heart and is not recommended as anything less than a last ditch attempt to get your laptop working again. Just make sure to remove all plastic shields and the CPU from the motherboard first.

This is just for ppl searching for device id's. Used for editing plist in nvidia related kexts to enable full accel!
Nvidia VENDOR ID : 0x10DE
PCI ID LIST ATTACHED
Note: there are some duplicates of models with different id's, sometimes this is the cause for people using the wrong id (although it is for their model, so for these you can try the alternate id's)
(If this has already been posted sorry, just I know from the chat channel that some find it hard to dig through the developer section of nvidia site)
Also feel free to add any id's not in the list in replies, and will try and keep this text list up-to-date.
