Where to start, well basically I recently bought the ASRock N68C-S UCC motherboard as my existing motherboard packed up on me and was looking for a cheap and reliable motherboard.
When I got it I put it all together by adding my processor which is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+, 2GB DDR2 677MHz RAM, 500W Alpine PSU, All-in-One Card Reader, 160GB SATA Seagate Hard Drive and an LG R/W DVD Drive.
I started off by doing a fresh install of Windows XP Professional, then installed Service Pack 2 and then Service Pack 3. After doing so I then inserted the driver disc and then installed all of the drivers (All-in-One driver which included the SM Bus Driver, LAN Driver, SATA Driver and IDE Driver, then the Onboard VGA Driver for the NVIDIA GeForce 7025 nForce 630a, Hd Audio Drive and Application, AMD CPU Driver and the ASRock APP Charger.
After installing all the drivers I then installed all of the free Utilities (Microsoft DirectX 9.0c Driver, ASRock OC Tuner, ASRock IES, ASRock Instant Boot, ASRock OC DNA, ASrock XFast USB, Adobe Reader, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Trial and Norton Internet Security.
After doing a reboot I noticed something strange, after the Windows XP loading screen had finished, just before the logon screen the screen quickly went blue and came up with words (BSOD) only for a split second and then rebooted.
After rebooting everything seemed fine, I then proceeded to install some software such as Chrome, Firefox, Zonealarm etc.
After 2-3 reboots I noticed that there was no sound coming from my headphones, I checked to see if there was volume by looking on the bottom right hand corner of the screen where the volume control is but somehow it had disappeared.
I believe the software I have installed for controlling the volume is called HD ADeck, when double clicking it on the desktop nothing happens. I then decided to look in Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers there was a yellow exclamation mark next to VIA High Definition Audio.
When I right click on VIA High Definition Audio and go on Properties under Device status it comes up with the following message..
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I have tried to re-install the driver and disabling and re-enabling it but have had no luck, I have done 3 full system restores and did the exact same installation previously mentioned but still keep getting the same issue.
